Biotechnology:
Bio-Technology essentially means modification of living beings through application of technology (i.e. organisms, biological systems or biological processes) to produce a better breed of plants, animals and human beings. The ultimate aim of Bio-Technology is to improve the breed of humans, to make them immune to all disease. In future Bio-Technology will have a major impact on health, pharmaceuticals, agricultural, food and environment. The development of new drugs, human and animal vaccines, diagnostics, transgenic crops and a range of new processes to clean up and manage the environment must surely bring substantial improvement in the living standards of most people. Bio-technology, a multi disciplinary subject covering Biomedical, Research, Microbiology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering, has been developed to meet the growing demand for training manpower for any meaningful Bio-technology activity in the country. The programmes are designed to expose the students to recent exciting developments in the area of genetic engineering and bio-technology and their exploitation in the industry, agriculture and medicine.

Bio-Technology has rapidly emerged as an area of activity having a potential impact on virtually all domains of human welfare ranging from food processing, boosting agricultural production, protection of environment, to production of newer and effective drugs.
