The Institute started its journey with Post Graduate Diploma of Bioinformatics with only 3 students and 2 lecturers. That was the foundation stone of our Institute. At that time the setup was very small with just a Computer Lab. Then the enhancement towards the establishment of Biotechnology started. Thereafter Our Institute was approached to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad for Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc.) for Biotechnology. The course approval gave new strength to the Institute. It’s started in 2002 under the Institute named as “MGM, Institute of Biosciences and Technology, Aurangabad”. The first Batch started in 2002 year with 18 students. The Lab facility available was minimum, with just basic setup. From here the Institute started proliferating with increase in the strength of lecturers, students and infrastructure. Today 52 no. of students are taking advantage of this course.
After well establishment into Post Graduate Degree into Biotechnology, Institution realized to give Agricultural base to the Biotechnology, Thus Institute approached to Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani for the Under graduate Degree Course i.e. B.Sc. Agri-Biotechnology in 2003 year, and the same has been approved by the MAU, Parbhani. That was the first mile stone of the Institute has been rooted into Agricultural area under the institute named as “MGM, College of Agricultural Biotechnology, Aurangabad”. After getting approval from the MAU, Parbhani, Institute started course with 64 students for B.Sc. Agri-Biotechnlogy course. Today, under this UG course 300 no. of students are learning.
In 2004, we have started the Post Graduate degree course (M.Sc.) for Bioinformatics with 4 students. Today this course has 21 nos. of students with high configured computer Lab.
By the perspective of fluent and efficient working of the Post Graduate courses and Under Graduate courses, the Institutions has been separated out in 2007 and the management has decided the PG courses will run under the “MGM, Institute of Biosciences and technology and UG courses will run under the “MGM, College of Agricultural-Biotechnology”.
In 2008, The “MGM, Institute of Biosciences and Technology” has started many new courses i.e. M.Sc. Medical Biotechnology, M.Sc. Medical Genetics, M.Sc. Clinical Research and M.Sc. Int. Medical Biotechnology under the “MGM, Health University, Mumbai” and B.Sc. Bioinformatics and in 2009 B.Sc. Biotechnology under Dr. B.A.M. University.
Now, this Institute is a bunch of many different courses, 187 nos. of students, 15 highly educated and experienced teaching staff, 10 nos.
of non-teaching staff, well equipped Laboratories, highly configured computer lab with non-interrupted and 24 hrs Internet connection, boys & girls
hostel, and so many different facilities to give enhanced knowledge & proper service to the Marathwada region students.
